Maternity leave stressed from 12 weeks to 26 weeks as per Maternity Bill passed in Parliament. Now women working in corporate sector are entitled for paid maternity leave.
This law applies for first two children, and if someone expects for third child then in that case leave reduces to 12 weeks.
After Canada and Norway, India stands in the third position regarding Maternity Leave. The Maternity Benefit Bill also states 12 weeks leave to surrogate mother and for one who adopts a child below 3 months of age. This leave should be applied in all organisation where employees are more than 10.
